So now that I have my first post under my belt, I would like to share with you something that occurred today.
I went to church today. Something I hadn't actually accomplished in
several months. I've brought my kids to church and to Sunday school, but
I took the backseat to the actual "going" part. At any rate, I actually
made it to the adult session for Sunday school and had some
enlightening conversations. All went well until I got home and onto FB.
Now, to me, there is nothing wrong with FB. If you have a moral problem
with FB, then please stay off of it. If you are the type of person that
may be tempted there, then, please stay away. Yes, there are some
nutbags out there that don't belong...and I happened to stumble upon one
of them this afternoon. What I read FLOORED ME! I know there are racist
people..I know that there are people who are out there just to hurt
their fellow man. I am not one of those people. I think that racist
people are a little off their rocker, but who am I to judge, right!?!
At any rate, I was snooping around because, [YES! I'm about to
admit this...] I really don't know what "Twitter" is all about. So, in
doing so, I was horrified~ This man, calling himself "RacistAndre"
caught my eye. I thought to myself...how harmless would it be to
actually poke around and see what this guy was all about. If you read
his first page...you could easily figure it out. And, you might be as
horrified as I was when I first read his posts. The crazier part is...I
kept reading because I guess I was interested in knowing what this man
felt about white people and any other ethnic background except black. I
mean, it was very obvious that he is pro "Black." It was also very
obvious that if you were white, indian, asian or anything else, he has
nothing nice to say.
I guess I choose to see the better in people, but always keep in
my filing cabinet (aka my brain) that people have ill-intentions. I
teach my kids the same principal. "There are people out there that make
REALLY BAD choices, and some continue to make bad choices and stay in
trouble." The CHOICE is yours...DAILY. In every moment, you have a
CHOICE to be one way or the other. No one "makes" you do anything.
It is sickening to see the amount of racism that is still staring
at us in the face. I also get that people stick with people they are
familiar with...it's human nature. But, then here's the kicker....he
calls himself a Christian. THAT about burst my bubble! Am I perfect?
HELL NO! Do I make pretend? Sometimes...I wish I were [perfect] so that I
could have a more organized or cleaner house, or I could manage my time
better. So, yes, I sometimes want to appear that I actually have my
crap together. But this is all what I have perceived to be perfect. And
yet, this is my choice. I choose my chaotic life. I make it so. And I
have every right to make another choice to have, in this case, more
organization.
The things that this guy wrote, then the comments on top of what
he wrote made me mad, but it was more saddening than anything else.
There are people that really play the race card, (black, white hispanic,
asian, whatever your cup of crap is...) against people. If you are
QUALIFIED, "race" shouldn't matter. And by the way...there is only ONE
race....the Human Race.
I have straight, gay, black, white, Asian, Indian and "other"
friends. Your intentions as a HUMAN BEING mean more to me than your skin
color. I have met people from all over the world and wouldn't change that for anything. Maybe I really DO care if you don't like "blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians, etc" By doing so, one creates another divided
highway. Come on people! I am a minority at work. I am white. Do I play
"that" card? What is "that card" anyway? Who actually created "that"
card and who are "they?" There are people of ALL COLORS that don't work,
that set the drudgery of society, and it sucks for everyone else. There are hardworking people and there are also people that will take advantage of another at any opportunistic moment. There
are also people living in the inner cities that are God-fearing, loving
people and would give their shirt off of their backs if you were in
need. It frustrates me to no end the BS we, as society, focuses on.
My one friend simply stated, "...half of the crap is inherited from [the] predecessor."
And you said you couldn't write.... This is very well and passionately said.
